ESN is an organisation under ISYY The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). This means any ISYY member is also an ESN member! Hence If you have paid your Student union membership fee then you are also a member of ESN.

Am I an ISYY member? How do I check?

  1. Do you have a student card from UEF?
  2. Does it have the ISYY logo?
  3. Has it got a current valid sticker?

If your answer is yes for all of them, then you are also a part of ESN! Another way to check is the Frank app. If you use the app instead of a plastic student card and if your app shows it's valid for the semester, that also means you are welcome to ESN events! If you are still confused and unsure if you are an ESN and ISYY member, then pop into The Student Union located in the Haltia Building at the Joensuu UEF Campus or jump on their website http://isyy.fi/en/.

I am not an ISYY member, can I still join?

YES! Students from other Universities, such as Karelia, or even non-students can join as our member by buying the ESNcard. However, if you are a student from UEF and entitled to join ISYY, the Student Union, then you are not entitled to buy the card as an outsider, you first must pay your student fee to ISYY and then the ESNcard can be purchased at a discounted price.

The ESNcard cost 20 euros and is available from ISYY Student Union (details above). This card is valid for a year and entitles you to attend any of ESN Joensuu and ESN Finland events. The card also entitles you to local, national and international discounts such as GLS parcels and flight discounts with Ryanair, check out our latest discunts at ESNcard.org. ISYY members can also buy the ESNcard for a discounted price which entitles you to all the local, national and international benefits mentioned.
